5 Things to Do in Preston Beach

5 Things to Do in Preston Beach

The beauty of Preston Beach lies in its simplicity. While other coastal towns may keep you busy with shops, cafés, and restaurants, Preston Beach offers something different—a place to truly slow down and escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

With only 387 dwellings and 268 residents, according to the latest census, Preston Beach is a small, peaceful township where most of the homes are owned by retirees, and the average age is a vibrant 62 years young.

So, why visit Preston Beach? To unwind. It’s as simple as that.

Picture slow strolls along the shore, bushwalks surrounded by nature, and afternoons spent with your feet up, lost in a good book. It’s the perfect spot for a digital detox. Sure, you could spend time scrolling on your couch, but a little break from screens never hurt anyone—we all know it’s good for the soul!

If you’re looking for some light activity, here are five things you can do while visiting Preston Beach:

  1. Golf
Preston Beach boasts a charming public golf course run by volunteers. Bring your clubs, or borrow some. The added bonus? The course is teeming with kangaroos, making your game an adventure in itself.

  2. The Beach
Sunsets at Preston Beach are stunning - this is my favourite time of day to go. If you're into 4WD adventures, you’ll love exploring the wide, sandy shores. The beach is vast and beautiful, perfect for a drive or a peaceful walk.

  3. Yoga
For those seeking a little mindfulness, join a yoga session at the Community Centre on Tuesday and Saturday mornings at 8:30 am. It’s a wonderful way to start your day, grounding yourself in the calm atmosphere of the town.

  4. Footprints Hotel Café
If you’re in the mood for a bite or drink, Footprints Hotel Café is open Friday through Sunday. Be sure to check their website for updated hours. Don't miss Happy Hour on Fridays, and treat yourself to a leisurely breakfast on the weekend.

  5. Bushwalking
The Yalgorup National Park offers incredible walking trails. From our house, you can take a stroll across the golf course, follow a bush path, and find yourself at the lake - a perfect way to immerse yourself in nature.

Preston Beach may be small, but it offers the ideal setting for those who need a little peace, relaxation, and a touch of adventure. Whether you’re lounging on the sand or exploring the bush, you’ll find the perfect way to unwind here.
